Yr in Review: Incumbents in State Races Win Re-election

In the State races, no one challenged State Representative Alan Powell or State Senator John Wilkinson in the May Primary and both ran unopposed later in November.

And State Representative Dan Gasaway will also serve another term in the 28th District, which includes Banks, Stephens and part of Habersham counties.

Gasaway beat out his Republican challenger Stacy Hall in the May Primary,.

After the primary Gasaway said he was looking forward to working on a number of things in the next two years.

“There is some banking legislation that I have been working on for three years that I will continue to work on aggressively,” said Gasaway. “We have some very significant issues in the community that we have been working on aggressively and I think the election may have held up my ability to move forward on some of those. Now that the election is cleared up, I think we can move forward aggressively.”

Gasaway later went on to win re-election in November.

Voters also decided on a host of other state races, including Governor and Lt. Governor races, as well Secretary of State, State Insurance Commissioner, Agriculture Commissioner, State Labor Commissioner, and State Attorney General.
