Yr in Review: Hart Co High School Teacher Arrested

Continuing our Look Back at the top stories of 2022 in Franklin and Hart counties was the arrest in early January of a Hart County High School teacher on charges of sexual assault and electronically furnishing obscene materials to a minor, both felonies.

Corinna Crumpton

Corinna Crumpton taught German at Hart County High School.

GBI Agent in Charge Jesse Maddox said the crimes allegedly took place between August and December of 2021.

Crumpton was immediately put on administrative leave but later resigned.

In March, a Hart County Grand Jury indicted Crumpton on both charges.

But in July, the prosecution submitted a Nolle Prosequi.

When the prosecutor enters into nolle prosequi, it means that they are not prosecuting the case any further right now.  However, this does not prohibit the prosecutor from refiling a new case against the accused later.

WLHR News reached out to the Hart County Clerk of Court to find out why the prosecution chose not to pursue the case further but we have not heard back.
