Youth Basketball Sign Up Now at Hart Rec Department

Sign-ups are going on now at the Hart County Recreation Department for Youth Basketball.

Registration is going on now through November 8^th.  Youth Basketball is for children ages 7 through 12 and they must be within that age group as of January 1^st.

The youth basketball program at the Hart County Recreation Center had not been offered for several years, but since Hart County Rec Director James Owens resurrected the program, he says there has been a lot of interest.

“Over the last two years, our registration has increased from year to year,” Owens said Monday. “You can register at the Hart County Registration Office at Clay St. Park. The fee will be $30.  We will also be sending out flyers through the schools to kids in the second grade through the seventh grade.”

Owens said this is also time for those interested in coaching youth basketball to sign up.

“The coaches applications are due by November 8th,” Owens said. “Also, coaches selection will be held on November 8th as well. Coaches meeting will be November 12th at 6p at the HCRD office.” 

Owens said players evaluations will be on Saturday, November 16th.  Try outs for kids 8 yrs and under will be at 9a, 10-yrs and under will be at 10:30a, and 12-yrs and under will be at noon. Owens said the location for try outs will be determined at a later date.

Owens said the first Youth Basketball game of the season will be held on January 4^th.
