Yard, Business of the Month Competition Begins in Hart County

The Hartwell Service League is holding its 2nd annual “Yard of the Month” and “Business in Bloom” competition for the 2013 summer season.

“This is a competition that recognizes those residences and businesses with exemplary lawns and beautification projects that contribute to the overall beauty of Hart County,” said Hartwell Service League member Kathy Breffle.

Winners will receive a yard sign to display during their winning month and the coveted “Golden Watering Can”.

Breffle  said the Yard of the Month competition is open to any Hart County residence who has not won previously.

“Each yard is judged based on curb appeal, uniqueness, and creativity, but no artificial plants and /or flowers are allowed,” she said.

The Business in Bloom competition is for any business in Hart County and has  the same requirements and judging criteria.

If a front yard is not an option for the business then the Hartwell Service League will judge based on an entrance way, window boxes, hanging baskets, etc.

The first winners will be announced June 1st,  and submissions are due by May 25th .  However winners will be announced each month through September.

To submit your home or business or someone else’s home or business you admire, you can complete an application available at the Chamber of Commerce office or website, the Hart County Extension Office (200 Arthur St), or from any Hartwell Service League member.

There is no entry fee.  If you have any questions, you can contact Kathy Breffle at 706-436-2698 or [email protected].
