WorkSource Georgia Offers Grant Money For Employee Training

WorkSource Georgia Mountains is offering grant money to businesses to help give their employees extra on-the-job training.

It’s called the Incumbent Worker Training Program.

Incumbent Work Training is designed to improve the skills of employees and the competitiveness of an employer by offering financial support for the upskilling of the employer’s current workforce.

The grant also supplies funding to help businesses defray costs and assist those businesses in providing needed skills training to full-time, permanent workers.

In order to be eligible for the grant, the needed training must enhance the company’s ability to compete in the global economy, expand present markets, increase employee’s wages, or help ensure the permanency (lay-off aversion) of business.

The business must also be a for-profit company that has been in business in Georgia for a minimum of one (1)year and is located in the Georgia Mountains Region.

Have at least five full-time, permanent employees other than the owner, be financially viable and current on all state and federal tax obligations, and training must lead to full-time employment for the employee and not for seasonal, temporary, or intermittent employment/

The maximum reimbursement per worker/trainee is $12,000.

WSGM has helped many Georgia employers maintain current employees with this valuable funding.
