WorkSource Georgia Mtns Offers Program to Help Disadvantaged Youth Get Job Training

Young people are invited to take part in a seminar on Zoom next month to learn about a free program designed to help you further your education, get job training, and much more.

It’s called the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act Youth Program which provides funding for education and training to eligible individuals to enhance their current skills or learn a new trade.

A division of the Georgia Mountains Regional Commission, WorkSource Georgia Mountains is hosting the free seminar on March 9th.

Catherine Allen is the Assistant Outreach Coordinator for WorkSource Georgia Mountains.

“The seminar is an opportunity for young people who are not in the normal education system to find out how they can get a leg up,” Allen said. “Whether you are a current student, interested in going to school for the first time, returning to school to increase your education, interested in obtaining your GED, or in obtaining job training, the Youth Program seminar will show you how to do that.”

Allen says the seminar is for any and all community members, partners, and interested applicants to learn more about the WIOA Youth Grant.

This seminar is the first of new quarterly WIOA Talks sessions.
