Workforce Development Mobile Unit Coming Back to Franklin, Hart Counties

More job seekers in our area appear to be looking elsewhere for employment.

That’s according to Micah Thomas, a trainer with the Georgia Mountains Regional Commission Workforce Development.  Thomas said their mobile training will be coming back to Franklin and Hart counties in the coming weeks.

The training bus first came to our area back in March, and each time, Thomas says they’re seeing more people turn out to take advantage of the free services.

“Within the past month, anytime we’ve gone out, we’ve seen eight to ten people,” he said. “We spend about an hour with each person interested in writing a resume, so that’s a large amount of people within a four-hour time period.”

The mobile training unit offers a number of free job seeking services, including resume writing, interviewing techniques and help with job searches.

Thomas said he’s seeing more job seekers ask to learn about job searching on the Web.

“Lately here, especially in this area, we’ve seen more people wanting to do online job searches,” he said. “I’m not sure what that means, but we’re seeing more people interested in online job searches.”

The mobile job training unit will be in Hartwell next Tuesday, July 22 at the Adult Learning Center below the Hart County Library on Benson St. from 10a to 2p.

Then on the 28th, the bus will be back at the Royston Public Library from 10a to 2p.

All job services on the mobile job training bus are free.
