Weekend Filled With Local Events, Concerts

The weekend weather should hold for the different events going on this weekend.

Tonight, bring your lawn chairs and some snacks to the Gazebo in downtown Lavonia and enjoy a fun country concert under the stars featuring the group Ramblin Country.

The show starts at 7p and is free.  Come early and have dinner at one of the downtown restaurants that will be open late tonight.

In Hartwell, the third annual 50-mile yard sale kicks off Saturday morning at 8a.

Yard sales with lots of deals and steals will be lining the main arteries leading into Hartwell.

Tables and booths will be set up from I-85 down SR77 into Hartwell, as well along U.S. 29 the Royston Highway and the Elberton and Bowman Highways.

Additionally, people living along those main roads will also be holding their own yard sales.

The 50-mile yard sale goes from 8a to 1p.

Then tomorrow night at the Hartwell Marina is the second “First Saturday” of the summer season.

Tomorrow’s production will feature the Hart County Community Theater and their musical production “Evolution of Music: Off Subject”.

This will be a fundraising event for the Hart County Community Theater, so while admission is still free, donations are greatly appreciated.

Bring your picnic or buy dinner from one of the vendors.

The entertainment is family friendly so bring everyone to sit under the trees by the lake at Hartwell Marina. The music is live from 7 – 10 pm.

In Toccoa, Main Street Toccoa will once again host the “Ida Cox Music Series” starting this Saturday night.

Crosby said the “Ida Cox” series will take place every Saturday night on Doyle Street in downtown Toccoa.

“Every Saturday night in the months of June and July, we will close off (Doyle) Street in downtown and we have a concert series,” said Crosby.

This week’s performers are “The HEAP.”

“They are very popular,” said Crosby. “They have been here for our past two summers and everyone has really enjoyed them.”

The concerts begin with local performers at 7 p.m. each Saturday, with headline acts to follow. The concerts end at 10 p.m.

All “Ida Cox Music Series” concerts are free to attend.  In case of rain, the concerts will move indoors to the Schaefer Center.

Also this summer, Main Street Toccoa and the Currahee Arts Council are sponsoring a Children’s Drama Camp at the Schaefer Center in downtown Toccoa.

The drama camp runs from June 16 to June 20.
