Voters to Decide on Long List of State and Federal Candidates

At the State level,  State Representative Alan Powell (R., 32) and State Senator John Wilkinson (R., 50) are running unopposed.

However, State Representative Dan Gasaway is being challenged by Republican Stacy Hall for the District 28 seat, which includes Banks and Stephens counties.

Voters are also deciding on candidates in the Governor’s race.  Governor Nathan Deal is being challenged by Republicans John Barge and David Pennington III and Democrat Jason Carter.

Other state races of local interest include the race for Public Service Commission for North Georgia in which Lavonia attorney Republican Doug Kidd is running against Republicans Craig Lutz and incumbent Bubba McDonald.

At the federal level, U.S. Representative Doug Collins is hoping to keep his seat for another term. Collins is being challenged by Republican Bernie Fontaine and Democrat David Vogel in the Primary.

And U.S. Representative Paul Broun of the 10th District is up against six other Republicans vying to win the candidacy in the race for the U.S. Senate.  Four Democrats are also running in that race.

Today’s winners in the state and federal races from both parties will face each other in November.
