Voters in Royston, Lavonia, Canon, Carnsville Going to Polls Today

In the municipal races in Franklin County, only one city council seat is contested in Lavonia.

Incumbent city councilman and former Lavonia Police officer Michael Schulman is running against Michelle Whitworth for the Post 1 seat.

Running without opposition, Jeremy Madden will take over as the new city councilman for the Post 2 seat, after incumbent David Howell chose not to run for re-election.

In Canon, two at-large city council seats are open.

Incumbents Dale Garner, and Cullen Morgan are running and being challenged by William Minish.

Incumbent Mayor Annie Wallace is running unopposed.

Wallace won in a special election in June to fill the unexpired term of the late mayor Ray Morgan, which ends December 31.

She is running unopposed to fill a new four-year term beginning in January.

In Carnesville, incumbent City councilman Wesley Dove is being challenged by Angie Smith and Mike Barrett.

And there are two city council races up for grabs in Royston.

For the Post 1 seat, incumbent Kenneth Roach is being challenged by Fletcher Hodges and for Post 5, three people are running. They include David Pressley, Wesley Fricks, and Darryl Ayers.

Matthew Fields is running unopposed for the Post 3 seat.

And for the Mayor’s seat, former city councilman and local business owner Keith Turman is running unopposed. Incumbent Mayor David Jordan has chosen not to run for re-election.
