Volunteers and Vendors Needed for Upcoming Ren Fest

The next Renaissance Festival meeting for volunteers and anyone interested in being part of the event is coming up on Tuesday, March 15 at 6pm.

Lavonia’s third annual Renaissance Festival is coming up on Saturday, May 7.  It will held at the park behind City Hall.  The Downtown Development Authority is still taking applications for volunteers, vendors, demonstrators and entertainers.

This year’s Ren Fest theme is “The Vikings are Coming!”

DDA Executive Director Barbara Busby says with more people than ever expected to attend this year, she says they need more vendors and volunteers.

Busby says, “Always, we’re always looking for volunteers.  What we’re looking for in volunteers, the day of the festival, we need help with parking.  A few days before we need help with decorating and just input and hands on the day of the festival.”

Last year, about 4,000 people attended Ren Fest and Busby believes there will be even more this year.

However, she emphasized the vendors need to have authentic goods to sell.

Busby says, “We are very specific with our Ren Fest vendors.  They need to be handmade items, handcrafted items, or very, very specific to Renaissance type era.  We are looking for more food vendors.  Last year’s Ren Fest, we had probably close to 4,000 people.  We hope to attract 5,000 this year.  So you can apply.  You can go to www.lavoniadowntown.com and download an application.  Or you can can stop by the Depot.  Or give us a call, and we can get you an application for a vendor.

Again, the next volunteer/vendor informational meeting is coming up Tuesday, March 15 at 6p at the Lavonia Train Depot.

And if you need more information you can stop by the DDA office at the train depot and speak with Busby or call her at 706-356-5725.
