Victim in Monday Morning I-85 Wreck Identified

A metro Atlanta woman who died Monday morning in a wreck on I-85 just inside the South Carolina state line, has been identified.

South Carolina authorities say it happened about 6:20a Monday morning near mile marker 3 in the northbound lane at Fair Play.

Oconee County State Trooper Lance Keller tells WLHR News a 2002 Toyota, driven by 46-year old Loi Nguyen of Chamblee, Georgia was traveling southbound on I-85 when it crossed the center median into northbound traffic and was struck by an oncoming northbound pick-up truck.

A passenger in Nguyen’s vehicle, identified as a 48-year old Lam Lee Nguyen also of Chamblee died at the scene from head trauma.

Oconee County Coroner Karl Addis said her death is being ruled as accidental.

He said she was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the wreck.

Keller said Nguyen was injured and was airlifted to Greenville Memorial Hospital.

The driver of the northbound vehicle is identified as Gheorge Schipor, 43 of Marietta, GA.

Shipor also suffered injuries and was transported to AnMed Medical Center in Anderson.
