Veterans’ Day Ceremonies Taking Place Today in Our Area

Today is Veterans Day and the Hart County High School Junior ROTC will be holding a community service in the Lonnie Burns Fine Arts Center.

Retired U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel Chris Carter is the new head of the Junior ROTC program at the High School.
Carter said this year’s program will honor veterans of all eras.

“At 10a Tuesday, the County will honor the veterans in recognition of Veteran’s Day,” Carter said. “We’ve got various representatives, including the Daughters of the American Revolution and the American Legion. And we would love the public to come. We’re reserving seats for the public. We would especially like to see veterans from Hart and surrounding counties, as well as their families. It’s not just veterans who sacrificed, but the families who sacrificed as well.”

Carter said the program will also include a Service Song Medley, a patriotic video as well as other music selections and a tribute to Hart County’s honored dead.  Carter will be the keynote speaker t the ceremony.

He says his speech will likely focus on how the sacrifices of veterans and their families make our freedom possible.

Today’s ceremony is free and open to the public.
