Underage Alcohol Sale Investigation Nets Four Banks County Businesses

In Banks County, a number of businesses in the Commerce area have been cited for selling alcohol to minors – one a popular upscale eatery.

“Banks County Sheriff’s Office investigators, along with agents from the Georgia Department of Revenue’s Alcohol, Tobacco & Firearm Division, conducted an underage alcohol sales operation on Sunday, March 29th,” said Banks County Sheriff’s spokesperson Sgt. Carrissa McFaddin.

McFaddin said a total of 20 businesses, including convenience stores, restaurants, and package stores.
During the course of those visits, underage teens attempted to purchase alcoholic beverages.

“Of the establishments visited, four sold to the minors,” she said. “Those businesses included the Commerce Lucky Store, 4 Way Country Store, Longhorn Steakhouse and Outback Steakhouse.”

McFaddin said the employees from each business who sold to the alcohol were charged with selling alcohol to underage minors (O.C.G.A. 3-3-23).

No word on whether the businesses will be cited or fined.
