Two NE Georgia Farms Honored at Georgia State Fair

Two Northeast Georgia farms were among 24 farms honored this week at the Georgia National Fair in Perry.

The Boring and Brooks Estate in Banks County Was the recipient of the Georgia Centennial Heritage Farm Award.

The Centennial Heritage Farm Award honors farms owned by members of the same family for 100 years or more that are also listed in the National Register of Historic Places.

And McMullan Farms in Hart County received the Centennial Farm Award.

The Centennial Farm Award, does not require continual family ownership, but farms must be at least 100 years old and listed in the National Register of Historic Places.

Other North Georgia farms honored at the fair this week included: the Fannin-Cooper Farm in Paulding County, the Glenn Family Farm Homestead in Troup County and the Freeman Springs Farm in Whitfield Co.
