Another honor for the City of Lavonia comes from the National Association of Development Organizations.

Two members of the Georgia Mountains Regional Commission have been recognized for their work in renovating and restoring the Lavonia Train Depot.

Heather Feldman and Danny Lewis will be presented with the NADO Innovation Award for 2013 at the organization’s annual conference next month in San Francisco.

Lewis is the Immediate President of the Georgia Mountains Regional Commission in Gainesville.

This is the second time NADO has recognized a project in Franklin County in as many years.

Last year, Ty Cobb Regional Medical Center received the Innovation Award for 2012.

According to their Web site, The National Association of Development Organizations (NADO) provides advocacy, education, research, and training for the nation’s regional development organizations.

The association and its members promote regional strategies, partnerships, and solutions to strengthen the economic competitiveness and quality of life across America’s local communities.
