Toys for Tots, Lavonia VFW Hold Christmas in July Ride Saturday

The Lavonia VFW is teaming up with Toys for Tots for Saturday’s Christmas in July Motorcycle ride and fundraiser.

Local Toys for Tots coordinator Mike Prather said the 2021 Toys for Tots drive broke all records.

Prather said some 3,000 children from 976 families in the Franklin, Hart, and Elbert county area received toys last year for Christmas, more than in any year past, and his goal is to break that record this year.

Participant riders will register at the VFW Post 5897 on E. Main St at 3p and all you need to bring is a new toy for Toys for Tots or any monetary donation in the form of a gift card.

Kickstands go up at 5p and riders will travel through Franklin County down Highway 17 south towards Royston.

At the stop light in Royston, they will turn right onto Franklin Springs St. And ride through Franklin Springs to Highway 145.

They will then turn right and head towards Carnesville to Highway 59 and finally turn on 59 back to Lavonia.

Once back at the VFW, there will be an auction, raffles, and a 50/50 drawing. Saturday’s activities conclude with a VFW dance at 8p featuring the Steve Bryson Band. Donations of toys will also be accepted at the dance.
