Toccoa Woman Charged with Prostitution in Banks Crossing

By Ethan Jordan, WNEG Radio, Toccoa

A Toccoa woman was one of the two arrested in Banks County for prostitution.

According to Banks County Sheriff Carlton Speed, deputies with his office arrested 39-year-old Alicia Nicole Peacock, of Toccoa, and Kitana Taiee Mathis, 23, of Athens, for prostitution.

Speed says prostitution in Banks County will not be tolerated.

Speed says the prostitution arrests stemmed from a proactive approach to human trafficking in the Banks Crossing area.

He added that if ignored, hotels, parking lots, and other areas off the interstate can quickly become a haven for criminal activity.

Banks County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Shawn Wilson says that deputies and investigators are trained to look for specific enforcement needs throughout the county.
