Toccoa Shooting Victim Tomas Colbert Laid to Rest Sunday

Funeral services were held Sunday for the victim of last weekends fatal shooting in Toccoa.

21-year-old Tomas Colbert of Toccoa died from gunshot wounds suffered last February 7th at an apartment on Falls Road.

Toccoa Police Chief Tim Jarrell said officers found Colbert alive and conscious with several gunshot wounds.

Colbert was transported first to Stephens County Hospital, then airlifted to Greenville Memorial Hospital where he died a short time later.

Jarrell said no other details surrounding the shooting are being released at this time because the shooting is still under investigation.

In 2012, Colbert was named a Stephens County High School standout athlete as an all-star receiver in football, and also playing basketball.

Colbert finished the 2012 season with over 1,100 receiving yards and 15 receiving touchdowns for Stephens County, which finished the year 8-3 that year.

Following graduation he received a football scholarship at a two year school in Kansas.
