Toccoa Police Find Two Bodies

Toccoa Police have recently recovered two bodies.

First, an elderly missing Toccoa woman was found dead last Sunday.

According to Toccoa Police Chief Jimmy Mize, 78-year-old Bonnie Kay Mayes was reported missing from her residence off of Presley Street near Falls Road on Friday, October 14.

After forming a search party officers with the Toccoa Police Department along with members of Stephens County EMA found Mayes’ body near her residence.

Chief Mize said they do not suspect foul play.

Earlier, police also discovered the body of a Toccoa man.

According to Chief Mize, on October 12, his officers found the body of 31-year-old Dustin Whiten.

Whiten’s body was discovered between West Doyle and Braswell streets.

Mize says the body has been sent to the Crime Lab in Atlanta for an autopsy.

The cause of death is unknown pending the results from the autopsy.

As of Tuesday, the autopsy had not yet been performed because the Crime Lab is extremely backed up.

However, Mize says they do not suspect foul play.
