Ticket Still Available for Low Country Boil

The Hart County Imagination Library still has a few tickets left for Friday night’s low country boil.  The low country boil will be held at the Hart County Ag Center at 1579 Bowman Highway from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.  Patricia Werner is director of Hart Partners, the organization putting on the fundraiser.  She says the low country boil will be prepared on site and features all of your favorite low-country ingredients.

Werner says, “Well the star of the show is the shrimp, of course.  And we’ve been told it’s the best shrimp you can get in Hartwell. But there’s shrimp, there’s sausage, corn, potatoes.  Of course we have rolls, coleslaw, and then we have bread pudding that is to die for.  It’s a New Orleans special recipe.  And it’s homemade.  We make it right there.”

Werner says the meals will be handed out drive-thru style, so there’s no need to get out of your car.  Tickets are $25 each and available at the Hart County Adult Learning Center on Benson Street or the Hart County Chamber of Commerce on Carolina Street today and Thursday.  Werner says you can also purchase tickets on-site provided they still have any left.  So if you want a guaranteed ticket, Werner recommends purchasing in advance.  She can be reached at 706-436-4034.

Proceeds benefit the Hart County Imagination Library Program, which provides free books to children ages birth up to 5 years of age regardless of family income.  Werner says the books are new, high-quality, age-appropriate books.  The Hart County Imagination Library Program is part of the Dolly Parton Imagination Library Program.  Dolly’s Imagination Library originated in 1995 with the goal to provide news books to kids in her home county of Sevier County, Tennessee.  Since then, the program has expanded to mailing about 2,000,000 books a month to kids worldwide including the some 800 served in Hart County.
