Third Annual Ren Fest Takes Place Saturday in Lavonia

For the past year, the Lavonia Downtown Development Authority and a host of volunteers have been preparing for tomorrow’s Renaissance Festival at Lavonia City Park.

This year’s theme is “The Vikings are Coming” and according to DDA Executive Director Elizabeth Busby, it promises to be bigger and better than ever.

Last year, about 4,000 people attended Ren Fest and Busby believes there will be even more this year.

Beginning at 10a, visitors to the fest will get to meet Claran the Mermaid, and meet Nova the Wolf.

King Alfred the Great and Queen Ealswith will reign over the festival and have given their blessing for a host of other activites, including a bird of prey show, a blacksmith demonstration and other fun activities for the kiddos.

There will also be other vendor booths featuring local artists and crafters as well food vendors.

Admission is $10 $5 for students, and children under five get in free, and tickets are available online at lavoniadowntown.com.

Parking is available at the Moose Lodge.

For more information you can contact the DDA office at 706-356-1926.

The Lavonia Ren Fest is funded in part by the Georgia Council for the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts.
