The Stephens County Board of Commissioners are having trouble making a nomination for the Department of Family and Children Services Board.
During the Commission meeting on Tuesday, the Commission decided to postpone its discussion until they could find someone interested to serve on the board.
According to County Administrator Phyllis Ayers, Bill Wheeler recently submitted his letter of resignation to the DFACS Board.
Wheeler’s term expires June 30, 2024.
Chairperson Michelle Ivester asked the commissioners if they had anyone in mind to be nominated for the position.
Commissioner Dean Scarborough and Commissioner Dennis Bell both explained that they were unable to find someone available for the seat.
Commissioner Dean Scarborough recommended the commission table or postpone the discussion until the next meeting.
Ivester asked about the DFACS Board meetings schedule.
County Clerk Beth Rider says the DFACS Board meets once a month via Zoom.
Scarborough made a motion to postpone the topic until the next Commission meeting with Bell seconding the motion.
The motion was approved unanimously.
