Teen Struck by Vehicle Sunday Night on SR17

The Georgia State Patrol is releasing more information about an accident that injured a pedestrian in Stephens County over the weekend.

It happened Sunday night about 9p on SR17 in Martin near the Franklin/Stephens County line.

GSP Toccoa Post Commander Chad Johnson said a 2014 Nissan Sentra, driven by 24-year-old Savannah Renea Woods of Martin, was traveling southbound on SR17 when she struck Wesley Teate, 16 of Martin.

Johnson said Teate was walking southbound on the white fog line on the edge of the road, traveling the same direction as the vehicle when he was hit.

According to Johnson, Teate suffered head injuries and was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital’s trauma center. There is no word on his condition at this time.

The GSP’s Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team responded to the scene to assist.  Johnson said no charges have been filed.
