Tanger Outlet Plans Mixed-Use Development in Banks Crossing

In Banks County, A 100-acre mixed-use development is proposed near the Tanger Outlet Center in Commerce, Ga., northeast of Atlanta.

According to a report in the Atlanta Business Chronicle, the project, called Commerce Point, would be located on Steven B. Tanger Boulevard, a road which parallels the north side of Interstate 85 just south of the I-85/U.S. 441 interchange.

North Carolina-based Tanger Factory Outlet Centers Inc. operates a 371,000-square-foot shopping center at 800 Steven B. Tanger Boulevard in Commerce.

The property proposed for the new project is directly behind the outlet center.

According to the report, the proposed project would be a mixed-use development including commercial and retail development, as well as multifamily housing.

Athens, Ga., firm WA Engineering is working on the project and it has an expected completion date of 2025.
