Tallulah River Road Closed for Repairs Beginning Today

The U.S. Forest Service will begin road repairs today to address damage on Tallulah River Road in the Chattahoochee National Forest.

Work will cause intermittent road closures, traffic delays, and campground closures.

Visitors to the campground should expect road closures between 9 am and noon and from 2p to -5pm Monday through Thursday each week until October.

Tate Branch and Sandy Bottoms campgrounds will be closed Monday through Thursday but will be open to visitor use Friday through Sunday.

Visitors will still be able to stay at nearby Tallulah River Campground but are advised to also consider Sarah’s Creek Campground or West Fork Campground on the scenic waterways approximately 15 miles east of Clayton.

In 2019 Tallulah River Road experienced significant damage after heavy rains, including a landslide that impacted approximately 40 feet of roadway.

Staff for the Chattooga River Ranger District made immediate repairs to help stabilize the remaining roadway until these long-term repairs could begin.
