Suspect in High-Speed Motorcycle Chase Still at Large

A suspect who allegedly stole a motorcycle Tuesday is still at large.

Tuesday morning, a trooper with the Georgia State Patrol attempted to stop a motorcycle that was speeding down U.S. 29 in Hartwell, according to reports.

The driver of the motorcycle refused to stop and led the trooper on a high-speed chase over the Savannah River and into Anderson County with speeds reportedly reaching up 150-170 miles per hour.

Troopers determined the bike had been stolen out of Anderson, South Carolina.

South Carolina authorities were called in to assist, but as the chase continued, the trooper and the driver of the motorcycle wrecked as they attempted to make a right turn off U.S. 29 and Becky St, according to a report on WYFF-4’s Web site.

The motorcyclist laid the bike down and fled on foot.

South Carolina authorities used helicopters Tuesday morning to search for the suspect, but as of this morning, he remains at large.

The motorcyclist faces both misdemeanor and felony warrants in Georgia, and will face charges in South Carolina.
