Suspect in Franklin County Armed Robberies Due in Court Next Month

Amy Fleming

A South Carolina woman indicted last year for her alleged part in two armed robberies in Franklin County is expected to be arraigned next month in Franklin County Superior Court.

24-year old Any Denise Fleming was indicted in March 2021 on 10 felony counts including four counts of Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, two counts of Aggravated Assault, one count of Criminal Attempt to Commit a Felony, one count of Armed Robbery, and one count of Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.

According to the indictment on January 21, 2021, Fleming and an accomplice Artis O’Neal allegedly robbed the Petro BP store on Old Federal Highway at gunpoint.

In that case, Amy Fleming was charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

The indictment states Fleming had within arm’s reach a Rossi .38 caliber revolver at the time of that alleged crime.

According to the indictment, they are both also charged with Aggravated Assault for pointing that firearm at the store employee.

The couple was also indicted for an attempted smash and grab burglary at Lakemont Jewelers the night of Tuesday, January 26.

The indictment states one of the suspects tried to smash the door of the jewelers after the store had closed. That triggered an alarm and the couple fled.

From there, the indictment states in Count 6 that the couple then went to the Royal Foods convenience store in Lavonia at the corner of Vickery St. And Highway 328 on Tuesday, January 26 where Wright allegedly entered the store wearing a black mask and carrying a gun and demanded money.

The pair fled with $904 according to the indictment.

Lavonia Police investigators worked with Oconee County, South Carolina Sheriff’s investigators and according to Police Chief Bruce Carlisle, information was developed from tips from the public and they learned that the suspects were from South Carolina.

Carlisle said Capt Westbrook and the Oconee County investigators found Fleming’s residence and determined she was part of the armed robbery but were still looking for the male suspect.

After numerous attempts by the Oconee County Sheriff’s investigators to find the couple, they were spotted in Westminster, SC and a high-speed chase ensued.

That chase ended in North Carolina. Both Wright and Fleming are also charged in North and South Carolina.
