Students Win Young Georgia Author Pioneer RESA Competition

Two Hart County Charter System students who are winners of the system-wide 2023-2024 Young Georgia Author contest, have been selected as Pioneer RESA Region winners and will be moving on to the state competition.

Hart County’s winners this year at the Pioneer RESA level are South Hart Elementary School second-grade student Weston Berelc, and Zoe Carter, a Hart County High School 11th-grade student.

Weston’s piece was titled “The Dragon and Some Platipi”, and Zoe’s work was titled “Stop and Savor It”.

“We are thrilled to see our students, Weston Berelc and Zoe Carter, excel in the Young
Georgia Author contests and represents the Hart County Charter System with distinction.
Their achievements at the Pioneer RESA regional level are a testament to their talent
and dedication, reflecting the standard of excellence upheld across our school district,”
Superintendent Jennifer Carter said. “Congratulations to Weston, Zoe, their teachers,
and their families, as they advance to the state competition. Their success inspires us all!
all!”

The two students won at the Pioneer RESA level over 15 other Northeast Georgia School systems, according to Hart County Charter System spokesman Grayson Williams.

Hart County School System Superintendent Jennifer Carter said both Weston and Zoe exceled in the Young Georgia Author contest and are representing the Hart County Charter System with distinction.

Carter noted that their achievements at the Pioneer RESA regional level are a testament to their talent and dedication, reflecting the standard of excellence upheld across the school district.

Both of Hart County’s winners will now move on to the Young Georgia Author state-level competition.

This Young Author’s competition has been engaging Georgia students for more than two decades and is open to any student currently enrolled in Georgia public schools, grades K-12.

The competition is sponsored by the Georgia Language Arts Supervisors (GLAS) and the Georgia RESA Network with support from the Georgia Department of Education.
