The school buses are running this morning in Hart County as the first day of class begins for the 2013-2014 school year.

And students at the Hart County Middle School will see some new faculty faces when they return to class today.

Late last month, the Hart County Board of Education made some last minute hiring decisions in a special called meeting.

According to a report in the Hartwell Sun, the school board unanimously accepted several recommendations by school superintendent Jerry Bell.

The board hired Maya Fouch, Jennifer Tate, and Matthew Sells as new teachers at Hart County Middle School.

Two of the teachers will be teaching science at the middle school.   Another will be a math teacher.

Additionally, the board made several  non-teaching hiring decisions.

Sandi Strickland was hired for a job in food services and Hart County Middle School phys ed teacher Mike McNeil was accepted as the new assistant varsity football coach by a vote of 3 to 1.

Board of Ed member Greg Fleming voted against, but reportedly was vague about his reasons for voting against.
