Strong Storms Monday Cause Little Damage in Franklin, Hart Counties

No major damage or power outages reported across Franklin or Hart Counties after last evening’s strong storms, but that’s not the case for the rest of Northeast Georgia.

In Habersham County, straight line winds and microbursts in and around the downtown area of Clarkesville caused damage to homes, cars and downed trees and power lines.

Some downed trees were reported overnight in Hart and Franklin Counties, but no structural damage.

In Hart County, Hart County Sheriff’s dispatcher Johnny Mewborn reports this morning that have had numerous reports of downed trees throughout the county and crews have been working all night to clear them off roads.

As of this morning, he said all roads in Hart County are now clear.

In Franklin County, dispatchers received five calls of downed trees in roadways, but as of this morning, those trees have been removed out of the roadways and all roads are clear and passable.

There was also one report of a downed powerline across Williams Bridge Road, but that has also been cleared away.

Hart EMC reports no power outages in Franklin, Hart, Stephens or Banks counties this morning.

Georgia Power reports no outages in our area, but they did have multiple outages in the Cleveland area of White County.
