Stolen Royston Church Bus Recovered, Suspect Sought

A bus stolen from a Royston church has been recovered.

Royston Police Chief Donnie Boleman says the bus was taken earlier this week from The Path Church in downtown Royston.

On Tuesday, Boleman said that after posting it on their Facebook page, a caller to the Police station said they saw a bus fitting that description in a parking lot in Oconee County, GA.

“Somebody saw it on Facebook. They saw it in a parking lot and decided to call law enforcement. They checked the tags on it that were entered as stolen on GCIC. So they secured the vehicle for us last night. We will process it today and then return it back to the owner.”

Boleman said they were processing the vehicle for fingerprints Tuesday and said they are still looking for the suspect that took the van. The van was returned to the church later Tuesday.
