New condos and a hotel are planned for the Currahee Club

Stephens County will soon be the home of a new hotel.

The Stephens County Board of Commissioners recently approved several land use rezoning and variance requests during its regular scheduled meeting last week.

The bulk of the land use rezoning and variance requests came from Real Property Holdings, Toccoa GA, LLC, and Currahee Club Investment Land, LLC

Both are the holding companies that recently purchased the Currahee Club golf club and residential community.

The first request was to rezone the lot located at One Currahee Club Way from Agriculture Residential to Residential Multi-Family for the construction of condominiums.

The next request was to rezone the lot located at 791 Currahee Club Drive, currently zoned as Residential Single to be rezoned as Residential Multi-Family for additional condominiums.

This request also included a list of variances that were discussed in the first request.

The last rezoning request is for the property located on the corner of Oak Valley Road and Currahee Club Drive.

This lot would be rezoned from Residential Single to Commercial General for a hotel to be built on the lot.

The commission also considered a variance request for the hotel, granting a building height allowance of 46 feet instead of the current maximum of 35 feet.

According to Chairman Dean Scarborough, the commission is excited to see another company take such a strong interest in Stephens County.

All rezoning and variance requests were approved unanimously by the board.
