State Insurance Commissioner Warns Ins. Companies to Promptly Respond to Storm Damage Claims

Weekend storms and the threat of more severe weather this week has Georgia’s Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner warning insurance companies to respond to claims promptly.

In a press release issued late Sunday, Commissioner John King released a statement regarding the severe storms that impacted much of north Georgia.

King said his office is continuing to closely monitor the fallout from weekend storms.

“We will be issuing a Directive to all insurance companies doing business in Georgia to promptly respond to and resolve any claims related to damage caused by these storms, King said. “Anyone with questions about their insurance policy or if you are having issues contacting their insurance company should call the State Insurance office’s Consumer Services Division toll-free at 1-800-656-2298, or visit their website at www.oci.ga.gov. Offices are open from 8:00am to 6:00pm Monday through Friday.”
