The first happened last Thursday, June 24 in Carlton, GA.

King said first responders on scene found the body of 78-year old Johnny Dispain, Sr., inside the residence.

He said the body was sent to the GBI Crime Lab for identification and autopsy by the Madison County Coroner’s Office.

Commissioner King’s Fire Investigations Unit is assisting the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, the Madison County Coroner’s Office, and the Carlton Volunteer Department on this case.

King said Dispain’s death marks the 75th death from a Georgia fire in 2021.
