Stamp Out Hunger Saturday, Leave a Bag of Food by Your Mailbox

Saturday is the US Postal Service’s Stamp Out Hunger food drive.

Sponsored by the National Association of Letter Carriers, the annual event collects non-perishable food for local food banks.

The food drive is a way for customers to help people in their own community.

People can donate a bag of non-perishable food items and leave it by their mailbox Saturday for their letter carrier to pick up.

Your local Post Office will then make sure the food gets to a local food bank or charity in your area.

According to the National Association of Letter Carriers, one in six Americans is either living at risk of hunger or not knowing where their next meal will come from.

That’s why the Letter Carriers’ Food Drive has continued every year since 1992.

If you aren’t sure if your local post office is participating, you can give them a call or stop by to find out.
