SPAY-ghetti Benefit Supper To Be Held Sunday Night

If you grew up watching the Price Is Right, you probably remember Bob Barker’s reminder to help control the animal population by having your pets spayed or neutered.  On Sunday, you can do your part and fill up your belly at the same time at the Hart County Humane Society’s SPAY-ghetti supper.  The SPAY-ghetti supper will be on Sunday from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at New York Pizza in Hartwell.

Hart County Humane Society President Donna Madkiff says not only is the SPAY-ghetti supper a fundraiser for the rescue group’s spay and neuter programs, it’s also to honor a well-loved local veterinarian.

Well, it’s Dr Robert Mauldin’s birthday, and we wanted to recognize it in a way that is meaningful. You know, he is our mentor, and he was rescuing way before we ever came about.”

Dr. Mauldin was the founder of Hartwell Animal Hospital.  He has since retired and sold the business.  Dr. Mauldin will be there for those who want to come by and wish him a happy birthday.

Tickets are $20 in advance and can be purchased at The Hart County Chamber Offices, All Hart Realty, and the Lavonia Welcome Center  today until 5:00.  Or you can purchase them in advance through 5:00 on Sunday at New York Pizza.  You can also purchase them on line through harthumane.org.  If you wait until suppertime on Sunday, the tickets are $25 each.

The meal includes spaghetti noodles, meatballs. . . or neuter balls as volunteers are calling them, and a roll.  Carry-out only.

Volunteers from the Hart County Humane Society will also be collecting canned or dried kitten and dog food.  Monetary donations are also welcome.

The Hart County Humane Society is a non-profit animal rescue organization that serves not only Hart, but Franklin County by rescuing animals from the local animal shelter.  They work on spaying and neutering projects.  The are 501(c) 3 non-profit receiving no funding from taxes or other sources.
