Six Indicted For Beating of Austic Woman in Rabun County

In Rabun County, six people have been indicted in connection to the abuse of a disabled adult earlier this year.

On July 10th, Jesse Terrell Shedd was indicted by a Grand Jury on the charges of Aggravated Assault, Battery, and Abuse of a Disable Person.

Detective Gerald Johnson with the Rabun County Sheriff’s office said their investigation led them to believe Shedd inflicted substantial visible bodily injury on Ashley Hamilton.

Authorities say that on April 3rd, Rabun County EMS as well as the Mountain City Police Department and the Rabun County Sheriff’s Office responded to call about a disabled woman who had been beaten.

Family members told an Atlanta TV station Hamilton had been left in the care of a relative and had been severely beaten about the face and feet.

Hamilton suffers from severe autism and could not tell authorities or her family what happened to her.

Also indicted on the charge of Abuse of a Disabled Adult were Kelly Sue Hamilton and Tabitha Chartrand.

Richard Joseph Foss, Peggy Sue Wall, and Julie Ann Stevenson were all indicted on the charge of reckless conduct in connection to the incident.   All six are expected to go before a judge for arraignment  in August.
