Several Fundraisers Coming Up for Northeast GA Animal Shelter Adoption Wing Project

The Northeast Georgia Animal Shelter has a number of new fundraisers coming up as they work to meet their goal of raising almost $500,000 for the new adoption wing.

Fundraisers include:

Yappy Hour – Southern Origin Meadery in Canon (formerly known as Blue Haven Bee Co.) will host a “Yappy Hour” on Thursday, Nov 17 from 5:30p to 8p.

Shelter Board Member Pam Stone said that while sampling the many products offered at the Meadery, attendees can also purchase a pot for $35 from The Plant Peddler who will provide the plants, potting soil, and other materials plus assistance in choosing and planting it with plants you select from those provided.

A portion of the proceeds from the event and any additional donations will go to the shelter building fund.

Gourmet Dinner & Silent Auction SOLD OUT – The special gourmet fundraiser dinner and silent auction at Sweet Combs of Honey set for next Tuesday, Nov 15, sold out quickly. However, anyone may go by the store on West Ave in Lavonia and bid on the silent auction items, once they are displayed, prior to the event.

Paint Your Pet – Friday, November 18 at Sweet Combs of Honey in Lavonia. Cost is $65 and attendees should bring a photo of their pet. All art materials will be supplied, as well as guidance from Ammo, a professional artist and teacher. For more information and to sign up, contact Sweet Combs of Honey.

Breakfast at Longhorn’s – Back by popular demand, Stone said the Shelter staff is once again partnering with Longhorn’s Steakhouse in Lavonia to hold another Breakfast at Longhorn’s on Saturday, Dec 3. As before, there will be two seatings – 8 am and 9 am – and the popular menu will be the same as before: steak, eggs, grits, and biscuits. Tickets are $20 and include the meal, beverage, tax, and gratuity. As before, attendees will also receive a coupon for a free Longhorn appetizer or dessert at a future visit. Anyone interested can contact the shelter (706-356-5363) or Pam Stone (706-356-8086) to reserve a spot.

Discount Cards for Sale – The Northeast Georgia Animal Shelter will be selling discount cards for use at numerous participating Franklin County and Hart County businesses. The cards will be available for purchase later this month and will be good for repeated use through November of 2023. Cards will sell for $10 each and will be available at the animal shelter, from shelter board members, and at specified bank branches in both counties.

50/50 Raffle tickets for sale – Tickets are $50 each. The drawing will be announced soon, but Stone said it will be sometime before December 27.

“All of the money we raise from all of these fundraiser events, as well as any other donations we receive by Dec 27, will be DOUBLED by the matching grant the shelter has recently received,” Stone said.

In October, Shelter Director Tammi Jourdenais announced that a family foundation has offered the grant to lend a hand to efforts by the Northeast Georgia Animal Shelter to raise money to complete the planned Adoption Center by offering to match any future donations to the project.
