Run-Off Election Day Today in Hart County

Voters in Hart County go back to the polls today to decide between two run-off candidates for the seat of Hart County Probate Judge.  Two candidates are vying for the seat, neither received the required 51% of the vote on November 4th.   They are interim Probate Judge Merry Kirk and challenger local attorney Todd Townsend.  In November, Kirk received 2,307 votes, and Todd Townsend racked up 1,839 votes.  Early voting ended last Wednesday due to the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.  The number of people who voted early for the run-off was not available Monday from the Registrar’s office.  Calls to Hart County Registrar John Stercho requesting that information were not returned.  Polls close at 7p this evening.  WLHR News will air the results as they come in tonight.  Results of the race will also be available on the 92.1 Web site once the votes are tallied.
