Royston Woman Remains Behind Bars After Drug Bust

A Royston woman remains behind bars after a drug bust found nearly $10,000 in methamphetamines in her car and home.  According to Sheriff Steve Thomas, it all happened on Monday, September 27, when the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Interdiction Unit stopped a vehicle near the Dollar General at Sandy Cross Road and Highway 106.  The vehicle, a black 2011 Dodge Journey, was observed failing to maintain a lane and having a window tint violation.

After pulling the SUV over, officers observed the driver, Shannon Lyn Borders of Royston, acting suspiciously.  Officers requested consent to search her vehicle, which she denied.  That’s when officers brought in K-9 “Max” who gave a positive alert after a free-air sniff.  Upon searching the vehicle, officers found approximately 8 ounces of methamphetamines under the passenger side seat.  Borders was placed under arrest without incident.

Officers later obtained a search warrant to her home where they found an additional 8 to 9 ounces of methamphetamines.

Bond was denied for Borders on September 29th.  She remains in the Franklin County Detention Center awaiting indictment.
