Royston Tree Lighting Tonight

Royston’s tree lighting festivities and ceremony is this evening at the Royston Wellness Park.

Main Street Director for the City of Royston Candy Rhoades says everything will start at 5:30 with a complimentary bouncy slide and kid’s train rides.  Rhoades says the actual ceremony will begin at 6:00pm.

Rhoades said, “Councilman Keith Turman will be our MC for the evening.  We will have several Christmas poems.  We will have music by the Franklin County Middle School Choral group.  We will also have some sing-along carols that will be lead by Stephen Fortman, and we will of course have Santa Claus.  We will have the lighting of Royston’s official tree.”

Rhoades estimates the actual lighting will be somewhere between 6:20 and 6:25.  After the tree has been illuminated, the bouncy slide, kid’s train rides, and visit with Santa will continue until 7pm.

The Royston Wellness Park is located near the corner of the 17 Bypass and Highway 29.

Rhodes says there’s still time to sign up to be in the Royston Christmas Parade.  This annual event is moving to a new day and time.  This year, the Royston Christmas Parade will be on Sunday, December 14th at 3:30pm.  Rhodes says they would like to have all applications in by Thursday, December 11th.  If you’d like to put your float in the parade, call the Main Street Office and Welcome Center at 706-245-7577.
