Royston Teen Killed in Crash Sunday in Anderson, SC

A Royston teenager has died in a vehicle crash over the weekend.

Anderson County SC Coroner Greg Shore said his office is investigating a single-vehicle crash that occurred around 6:15 pm Sunday on SC Highway 187 South near Old Roberts Church Road in Anderson.

Trooper Nick Pye, Community Relations Officer with the S.C. Highway Patrol Troop 6 said the crash involved a 2009 Honda Sedan. Pyes said the Honda was traveling south on Highway 187 when it ran off the road and struck a tree.

The driver whose name has not been released was transported to AnMed Hospital in Anderson with minor injuries.

The passenger, identified as 16-year-old Kveon M. Willis of Royston, was trapped in the vehicle and had to be extracted according to Shore.

“The victim was pronounced deceased on scene after resuscitative efforts were unsuccessful. The driver of the vehicle was transported to AnMed for evaluation of minor injuries. The driver and the victim were returning from a basketball game with their recreation team traveling to their homes in Georgia when the crash occurred. The victim is a student and athlete at Madison High School in Danielsville, Georgia,” according to Shore.

Shore said the investigation is ongoing by the Anderson County Office of the Coroner and the South Carolina Highway
