Royston Names Finalist for City Manager

The City of Royston has announced their finalist for the job of City Manager.

Late Thursday, Royston Mayor David Jordan said he and the City Council have chosen Edward Andrews as their candidate.

Royston has been without a city manager since March when former city manager Greg Scott resigned to take a job with the U.S. Air National Guard in Florida.  Jordan said Andrews has the qualifications the City has been looking for.

“He is the one we felt that out of all of the applications, he was the one that would bring the broad range of experience to the job,” Jordan said. “We had a lot of great resumes, but his stood out among the rest.”

The City, Jordan said was also impressed with Andrews’ experience and leadership abilities.  Jordan said another plus in the City’s eyes is the fact that Andrews is a veteran.

“As you recall, our previous manager was involved with the Air Force,” Jordan said. “We have found that our veterans tend to bring us a great deal of experience and leadership.”

By law, the council must wait 14 days to officially hire Andrews.  Jordan said the city council will vote on Mr. Andrews at a called council meeting in mid-August. The date for that meeting will be announced later.

A public hearing on Andrews’ hiring will be held August 12 during their regular City Council meeting.
