Royston Man Charged with Trafficking Methamphetamine

A Royston man sits behind bars charged with trafficking meth.

Franklin County Sheriff Stevie Thomas said on Friday, deputies arrested Chad Jacobs, 36, of Race St. in Royston, in the Gumlog area.

“Mr. Jacobs allegedly had over a ½ pound of Methamphetamine in his possession with a street value of approximately $8,000.00,” Thomas said. “Deputies also seized $1,400 in cash.”

The meth was allegedly found inside the engine of Jacob’s truck, according to Thomas.

Jacobs was charged with Trafficking Meth, Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, Possession of firearm during the commission of a crime, and Probation Warrant.   A hold was also placed on Jacobs for Hart County.

Jacobs had been released from State prison in July 2013 after serving one year of a 10-year sentence for meth possession in Hart County, and was on parole at the time of his arrest last week.

Jacobs had his first appearance hearing in front of Franklin County Magistrate Judge Cody Grizzle on Monday and bond was denied.  He remains in the Franklin County Detention Center.
