A three-month-long investigation has led to the arrest of a Royston man on charges of distributing prescription pills illegally.

Franklin County Sheriff Steve Thomas tells WLHR News that 48-year-old David Louis Dutton of Royston was arrested following an investigation initiated by the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.

Dutton was charged with two counts of Distribution of a Controlled Substance, one count of Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance, and one count of Sale of Dangerous Drugs.

Dutton was arrested following a search warrant executed at his home in Royston.

During that search conducted by Sheriff’s deputies, Royston Police and agents with the GBI’s Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office, 55 Oxycodone pills were seized.

Dutton was booked into the Franklin County Jail. He is scheduled for a bond hearing in Superior Court later this month.

Thomas said the investigation is ongoing.
