Royston Council to Vote August 18 on New City Manager

Royston’s City Council will meet in a called session on Monday, August 18 to formally vote to hire their only finalist for the job of City Manager.

Last week, the council announced they have chosen Edward Andrews of Martin out of a pool of about 20 applicants.

Royston has been without a city manager since March when former city manager Greg Scott resigned to take a job with the U.S. Air National Guard in Florida.

Royston mayor David Jordan said Andrews has the qualifications the City has been looking for.

The City, Jordan said was also impressed with Andrews’ experience and the fact that Andrews is a veteran.

Andrews is retired from the Georgia Army National Guard and the Georgia Department of Defense where he worked as a mechanical maintenance supervisor until 2013.

A public hearing on Andrews’ hiring will be held August 12 during the regular Royston City Council meeting.
