Risk Limiting Audit Confirms Trump Winner of Presidential Preference Primary

Using the same equipment as in the 2020 election, an audit of the Republican race in the 2024 Presidential Preference Primary confirmed former President Donald Trump as the winner.

Last week, all 159 Georgia counties conducted a post-election audit of ballots cast in the March 12th Republican Presidential Preference Primary.

As part of the audit, every Georgia county was required to count randomly selected ballots totaling 413 batches from across the state, or 7.5% of ballots overall.

The risk-limiting audit was conducted with a 5% risk limit.

This small amount of difference is well within the expected margin of error for an audit of this size, and it is largely caused by human error during the hand-counting process.

Risk Limiting Audits in Franklin and Hart Counties showed no discrepancies in the ballot counts.

That’s according to Franklin County Election Supervisor Tracie Creason and Hart County Election Supervisor Robin Webb.

In Franklin County, four poll workers counted the absentee paper ballots and ballots for the Presidential Preference Primary.

In each audit count, No Vote ballots, and Democratic ballots were separated from the count.

Creason said afterward, the audit count matched the count on election night.

On March 12, in Franklin County, 2,397 votes or 92.33% went to Donald Trump, followed by Nikki Haley with 171 votes or 6.59% of the vote.

Two observers, one Republican and one Democrat were on hand at the Franklin County Board of Elections to witness the audit.

In Hart County, Webb said all ballots for all precincts were audited and the results matched the results on Primary night. On March 12, Donald Trump received 2,493 votes or 87.72% of the Republican vote on March 12. Nikki Haley received 320 votes or 11.26%.

Georgia law mandates that risk-limiting audits must be conducted following any election with statewide or federal contests.

All counties participated in the required Risk-Limiting Audit that confirmed the original result as tabulated by the voting equipment.
