Reward Offered in Series of Hart County Burglaries

The Hart County Sheriff’s office is now offering a $500 reward for information leading to the arrest of the suspects responsible for a rash of burglaries over the past month.

Hart County Sheriff Mike Cleveland said his officers continue to investigate at least 10 burglaries that have taken place since mid-October.

“All the investigators’ top priority right now is trying to find a lead in these five burglaries,” Cleveland said. “Most of what they appear to be looking for is jewelry and cash. They will take other stuff, but it seems like they’re going in and heading straight for the bedrooms and grabbing the jewelry boxes.”

As in the cases we reported last month, Cleveland said they suspects are going after smaller items that can be easily taken and easily pawned.

Cleveland said investigators now believe the suspects may also be responsible for burglaries in Elbert County and both law enforcement agencies are offering a reward. Three more burglaries have been reported since just last week.

One of the break-ins happened November 12th at a home in the Reed Creek Community where $400 in jewelry was taken.  On that same day, suspects broke into a home in Canon and took $1,600 worth of electronics.

Then on the 17th a home on Watsadler Rd was burglarized and $500 in jewelry and other items were taken.

Cleveland said the suspects appear to be going back and forth between Hart County and Elbert County.

Anyone with information about the burglaries is asked to contact the Hart County Sheriff’s office at 706-376-3114.
