The City of Royston continues to work on turning the old public library into the new City Hall.

The two offices swapped buildings last year after almost a year of renovations to turn the old City Hall building into a state-of-the-art library.  On Thursday, Royston City Manager Greg Scott he is currently reviewing bids for the city hall project.
“We’re evaluating pricing we’ve got from several local general contractors and will be getting with the committee to decide who we want to go with,” Scott said.
Right now, much of the city hall building is one big open space with some temporary offices set up.  Scott said the design approved by the Royston City Council last spring will allow for future expansion if needed.
“We’re going to  have office areas and a big open area to host events between the two,” Scott said. “We will also have a council chamnber and an executive session area with that. There will be room to grow for I hope the next 50 years”
The design also includes an open front entrance area where citizens will be able to pay their utility bills at a window.  The front entrance will also include public restrooms and according to Scott, a public entrance to the new city council meeting room.
Total cost for the renovation Scott said is around $120,000 and will be paid for with monies already included in the City’s current fiscal budget.
Scott said they hope to have the entire renovation completed in late spring.
